One of Harvard University’s most treasured landmarks, Memorial Church is an interdenominational Protestant Church in the middle of Harvard Yard serving as a place of spiritual refuge to the entire community. The church stands opposite Widener Library as a visible reminder of the historic and spiritual heritage that has sustained Harvard for nearly four centuries. Initially conceived as a project to provide year-round climate control to the sanctuary, the program evolved to include expanded accessible accommodations and revitalization of the lower level. The project received a 2017 American Institute of Architects (AIA) New England Design Award and a 2018 International Interior Design Association (IIDA) New England award.
